About The Children's Place
Since 1981, The Children's Place has been a trusted provider of childcare services to the greater San Carlos community, founded to meet the needs of working parents, we continue to offer a non-sectarian program with a qualified and experienced teaching staff.
Our Play-Based Approach to Early Learning
At The Children’s Place, we believe that play is the foundation of early childhood development. Our play-based learning model empowers children to explore, create, problem-solve, and connect with others in meaningful ways. Through play, children naturally develop critical thinking skills, build confidence, and learn how to make sense of the world around them.
Whether your child is building with blocks, engaging in dramatic play, painting at the easel, or exploring nature, they are developing language, emotional awareness, physical coordination, and social skills—all at their own pace. Play-based learning supports the whole child, nurturing not just academic readiness, but also emotional, social, and physical growth.
We are committed to supporting every stage of your child’s development through a rich variety of experiences. Our program includes hands-on activities in art, science, music, drama, and movement, designed to promote curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. In our warm and nurturing environment, children are encouraged to explore and experiment freely, gaining independence and self-confidence as they grow.
Our compassionate and experienced educators work closely with families to create individualized learning plans, ensuring each child’s unique needs and strengths are supported. With ongoing communication and a deep respect for each child’s journey, we partner with families to help every child reach their fullest potential.
At The Children’s Place, play isn’t just what we do—it’s how we help children thrive.
More About Our Program
The Children's Place offers full-day programs for children aged 2 years through Pre-Kindergarten. We offer flexible scheduling, with options for 2, 3, or 5 days a week. While we do not offer a half-day program, parents are welcome to choose the hours of attendance that work best for their child within our operating hours. For an added fee, part-time children may attend an additional day if space is available on the chosen day.
We are open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Visitors are always welcome, and we encourage you to schedule a visit by calling or emailing hello@tcppreschool.org.
At The Children's Place, we believe that play and exploration are crucial to a child's development. That's why we offer a range of indoor play equipment and enrichment classes, including access to Mahany Hall, a large multipurpose room used for indoor play and rainy-day activities.
We maintain small class sizes of 12 students with 2 teachers in each class to provide individualized attention and support for each child's needs.
As a non-profit, The Children's Place is operated under the advisement of a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month via Zoom. For inquiries about the Board of Directors, please email Michelle@tcppreschool.org.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to The Children's Place and providing a nurturing environment for their growth and development.
